A simpler way to take the first step

Trying to find the right mental health care can be confusing.

You may not know whether you need a psychiatrist, psychologist, ADHD assessment, medication review, GP referral, Medicare rebate information, or simply someone to help explain your options.

That is exactly why Wellvue was created.

Wellvue was developed by doctors to make high-quality mental health care more accessible for Australians, wherever they live.

We are an Australian-based telehealth service with a head office in Queanbeyan, NSW. Our local, on-site administration team supports patients, clinicians and referrers across Australia, while our clinicians are based around the country and provide care through secure telehealth.

Our goal is to reduce the barriers that can make getting care feel difficult, including location, uncertainty, stigma, referral confusion and long, disconnected pathways.

We believe patients benefit when clinicians are properly supported. Wellvue has been built to be a positive, well-organised place for clinicians, helping them spend more time focused on thoughtful, personalised care rather than unnecessary admin.

You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Choose the option above that best fits where you are today, and Wellvue can help guide you toward the next step.

Questions people often have before they book

It is normal to have questions before starting mental health care. Wellvue is designed to make the next step easier to understand, especially if you are unsure about referrals, costs, appointment types or which clinician pathway may suit your needs.

    Do I need a referral?

If you are planning to see a psychiatrist, you will generally need a referral from your GP. This referral is important for accessing Medicare rebates for psychiatric sessions.

If you are looking to see a psychologist, your GP may provide a Mental Health Care Plan, which can give access to Medicare rebates for eligible psychology sessions.

If you do not already have a referral, Wellvue has a Mental Health GP who may be able to assist with referral letters, specialist letters and general medical consults through private telehealth appointments, where appropriate.

If you are unsure whether you need a referral, start with an enquiry and Wellvue can help explain the next step.

    Ask about referrals

    How much will it cost?

Fees vary by clinician and appointment type.

    Psychiatry
Initial appointments are generally $650 to $1,000. Ongoing follow up appointments are generally $300 to $490.

    Psychology
Standard sessions are generally $290 to $345.

Medicare rebates may apply when eligibility and referral requirements are met. For eligible patients, the Medicare Safety Net may further reduce out of pocket costs once the relevant annual threshold is reached.

Ongoing care does not necessarily mean the same cost each time. Follow up psychiatry appointments are generally less expensive than the initial assessment and allow your clinician to review progress, monitor treatment and adjust your care when clinically appropriate.
