About

Dr Michael Lloyd

Dr Michael Lloyd is a psychiatrist based in Melbourne, specialising in perinatal and mother-baby mental health. He is dedicated to supporting women through the emotional and psychological challenges of pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period, providing compassionate, evidence-based care via telehealth.

With extensive experience in perinatal psychiatry, general adult psychiatry, and consultation-liaison psychiatry, Dr Lloyd provides mental health care tailored to the needs of new and expecting mothers. He also works collaboratively with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic support for both mother and baby.

Approach to Mental Health Care

Dr Lloyd takes a warm, collaborative, and patient-centred approach to care. He understands that pregnancy and early motherhood can be a time of immense joy but also significant emotional and psychological change. His practice emphasises early intervention, education, and shared decision-making to help women feel empowered in their mental health journey.

Through telehealth, he provides accessible and flexible care, ensuring that women receive the support they need regardless of their location. He also provides guidance on psychiatric medication use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, helping patients make informed choices about their treatment.
