About

Dr Andrew Daltry

Dr Andrew Daltry is a psychiatrist with a broad medical background, having worked in general medicine, geriatrics, anaesthetics, emergency medicine, and psychiatry. Originally from the UK, he completed his medical degree at the University of Leeds in 2008 before gaining extensive experience in hospital-based medicine. He spent three years training in anaesthetics, deepening his understanding of physiology and how the body responds to stress. After moving to Australia, he worked in emergency and general medicine before specialising in psychiatry.

Dr Daltry became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) in 2023 and now works in private practice and telehealth, providing personalised care to people experiencing a range of mental health challenges.

Approach to Mental Health Care

Dr Daltry focuses on practical, down-to-earth mental health care that takes into account each person’s unique experiences, strengths, and challenges. He believes good treatment is built on trust, collaboration, and a clear plan, working closely with patients to find what works best for them.

With a background in anaesthetics and physiology, he has a strong interest in the connection between mental and physical health. He incorporates mindfulness and physiological techniques into his practice, helping people understand how their body responds to stress and how they can better manage it.

Special Interests

Dr Daltry also has a strong interest in working with neurodivergent individuals, particularly those with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as patients managing complex trauma, personality disorders, and chronic mental health conditions. His experience with both emergency medicine and psychiatry allows him to support patients navigating crisis situations with a calm and pragmatic approach.

In addition to working with adults, Dr Daltry also provides care for older adults, offering support for late-life mental health concerns and the unique challenges faced in later years.

Beyond Medicine

Outside of work, Dr Daltry enjoys Latin dance, beekeeping, pool and snooker, and chess. Whether it’s movement, precision, or strategy, he finds joy in activities that challenge both the body and the mind.
