Annabel Hales is a highly experienced counselling and clinical psychologist with more than two decades of work across diverse clinical, hospital, and community mental health settings. Over the years, she has supported individuals, couples, and families through a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. Her career has spanned roles in both the public and private sectors, including work in multidisciplinary teams, therapeutic programs, family services, and mental health clinics.
Annabel holds a Master of Counselling Psychology from Curtin University and a Bachelor of Psychology with Honours from Murdoch University. She is also a board-approved supervisor, and has contributed actively to professional bodies and training organisations, mentoring early-career psychologists and supporting professional development within the field.
Approach to Mental Health Care
Annabel’s approach is thoughtful, grounded, and centred on the whole person. She gently supports clients to move beyond surface-level understanding, guiding them toward deeper emotional insight, self-awareness, and compassion. With a strong foundation in clinical practice and a calm, reflective presence, she fosters a space where meaningful change can unfold. Alongside her clinical work, Annabel is a board-approved supervisor who has mentored early-career psychologists and contributed actively to professional networks. At the heart of her work is a quiet yet unwavering belief in the resilience of the human spirit, the capacity we all hold to heal, grow, and rediscover light, even in life’s most challenging moments.
Areas of Focus
Annabel works with a wide range of presentations including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, ADHD, personality vulnerabilities, and life transitions. She has a particular interest in women’s mental health, including menopause and late-diagnosed ADHD, and brings a trauma-informed and emotionally attuned lens to her work.
Beyond the Therapy Room
Outside the therapy room, Annabel is a lifelong learner who finds joy in reading, tuning into thoughtful podcasts, and spending time in nature, where she seeks out moments of awe and wonder. She shares her days with a football-loving family and a spirited toy moodle, and is currently learning to play the ukulele, embracing the off-key moments with laughter. Annabel holds deep value in connection, curiosity, and the simple pleasures of life, which quietly shape her presence in the therapy space.
